Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how the Radio Compass app ("the App") handles information when you use it. Radio Compass is designed to work without accounts, sign-ups, or the collection of personal information.

Information We Collect

The App does not require you to create an account and does not knowingly collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contact details.

A randomly generated device identifier (UUID) is stored on your device. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is used solely to restore your discovered radio stations between visits and to enforce fair-usage limits on the service.

Location Data

The App uses your device's location and compass heading to determine the direction and distance you are pointing, so it can find a nearby radio station. Location data is processed on your device and sent to our server only as needed to look up a station; it is not stored longer than necessary to service the request and is not used to build a profile of your movements.

Third-Party Services

Radio station listings and stream URLs are sourced from Radio Browser, a community-maintained, open database of internet radio stations. When you play a station, your device connects directly to that station's stream, which is operated by a third party and subject to its own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party stations or services.

Permissions

The App requests access to your device's location so that it can determine the direction and distance to search for a station. It requests network access to retrieve station data and play audio streams. These permissions are used only to provide the App's core functionality and can be withdrawn at any time through your device settings, though doing so may prevent the App from working as intended.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as the total number of times a station has been discovered) may be used to show which stations are popular with other users.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your device identifier and saved stations are retained until you clear the App's storage or uninstall the App, at which point this data is removed from your device. You can also stop use of the identifier at any time by clearing the App's data through your device settings.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective upon posting with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
